2009 Block of the Month

 BOM quilt 2009

We are happy to introduce our newest Block of the

Month to you!  “Spin Me, A quilt sampler”  will join the lineup beginning Jan. 3, 2009!  This beautiful sampler  block quilt is a 9-month program, and will run from Jan.09 – Sept. 09.  It’s a beginning to intermediate level project.

The rules are simple:

Enrollment fee is only $10.00!  With your paid

enrollment, you will receive one “Free Ride” ticket, which gives you a pass for any one month you have to miss class.  What does that mean?  Let me explain:

Each month you attend our short class, and you arrive on time, and you have your completed block from the previous month, and you are there in person, you receive your next block FREE!  So, your “Free ride” ticket allows you to miss a class and not pay for your block.   Each month we will review how the block is assembled, and answer any questions you have.  You make the blocks at home.

The fabric we have chosen is from Red Rooster, and is called Bread & Butter.  Allocations

have been made and the fabric will be arriving next month.  The sample quilt can be seen in

our shop.  If you choose to use our finishing layout, you may purchase a finishing kit that

includes all fabrics, including binding and optional backing, along with the pattern,

instructions and diagrams.  We will demonstrate the setting blocks during class, and you

may want to make them ahead of time so your quilt is ready to assemble when the last

block is released.

Because we must pre-purchase the fabric, we will offer an “early-purchase” discount if you

buy your kit prior to the start of the program (Jan. 3, 09).  Pricing for the finishing kit is as

follows:

Finishing kit:  $69.00 Early purchase price:  $58.65 (good until Jan. 3, 2009)

Optional  backing:  $40.95  Early purchase price:  $34.80 (limited quantity)

The finished size on our model quilt is 77” x 77”.  However, the borders are cut the length

of the fabric, which allows for larger outer borders than we used.  Finished size can be up to

85” x 85” with no additional fabric purchase.  (10” border)

Since this is a fabric line that is not scheduled to re-print, we WILL have a cut-off for

membership in this year’s club.   Paid sign-ups will be confirmed members (whether or not

a finishing kit is purchased).  Classes will be held on the FIRST SATURDAY of each month

and 3 times will be available for you to choose from – 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.

Get your quilting friends together – or quilting wanna-be’s and sign up NOW!  Finishing kit

can be ordered at time of sign up, and must be paid prior to picking up the kit.  Last day to

order a finishing kit is Feb. 2, 2009.  Please make sure your kit is paid for by Sept. 6, 2009.

Stop by today and sign up for Block of the Month, or give us a call and we can enroll you by

phone.  Check the website for a color picture of “SPIN ME!”

New Block of the Month

QUILTED WORKS

(435) 674-2500

2008-09 Block of the Month

Featuring:

Border Creek Station Mystery Quilt!

The Quilter’s Double Cross Mystery Quilt Club begins OCT. 4th

The cost to join is $20.00.  This we pay to Border Creek for our patterns,

instructions, etc.   Then you choose the size, border, and colorway you’d

like to make.  The rest?  Well, it’s a secret!  This 9 month program will start

to take shape, and you’ll be able to “piece” it together about 7 months into

the program.  Until then….you just do as you’re told!

The quilt can be made in 2 different sizes – a lap or a large queen.  You can

also choose from a plain border, or a pieced border (it’s gorgeous!).

You will be given instructions as to what fabrics to cut from your kit and

how to sew them at our regular Block of the Month first Saturday.  Kits

must be purchased by Oct. 4th.  So, Quilted Works sells the fabric kit,

Border Creek sells the pattern, and what’s in it for YOU?  Well, we love our

block of the month-ers and we look forward to seeing you each month.

SO, if you come to our class and you have finished the assignment from

the previous month, you will receive a $5.00 store coupon!  You can save

them up, or use them on the deal of the day!  If you can’t make it to class,

simply pick up your instructions when it’s convenient for you.  There’s no

additional cost for this.

Now you need to decide what size of a quilt you want to make:

Lap quilt (58” x 73”) w/plain border and binding:  $64.00

Lap quilt (58” x 73”) w/pieced border & binding:   $75.00

Or

Queen size (102” x 102”) w/plain border and binding  $119.00

Queen size (102” x 102”) w/pieced border & binding   $130.00

Enrollment fee ($20) is due at time of sign up.  Fabric kit can be purchased

anytime prior to class.  You can make payments until Oct. 4th if you’d like.

SIGN UP DEADLINE:  SEPT. 20TH

A Sweet Machine!

Vsm08010028
Last week we were lucky enough to have a PFAFF educator come and teach us all about Sergers. I have used sergers before, but never really in depth and these machines do some awesome stuff. So the Creative Overlock 4874 was my favorite(it does most the work for you) but the others were super good too. So below is the little blurb that is on their website and you can see the other PFAFF sergers here. One other cool thing about PFAFF sergers is that they have an online interactive threading guide, so no more stressing when your machine comes unthreaded.

PFAFF CREATIVE OVERLOCK 4874
Thread tensions, stitch lengths, and differential feed are automatically at the optimal setting and can be individually adjusted if needed. And, of course, your individual settings can be saved! You'll also discover easy threading, and absolutely even seams - thanks to the differential feed. There is also a generous work area, high presser foot lift, extensive accessories, and a tension release button for the needle threads, so the fabric can easily be removed from under the presser foot.
