Barb's Licorice Caramels

At our Christmas Open House we were so delighted that Barb brought her home made caramels.  We often have customers call or come in the store requesting her recipe.

LICORICE CARAMELS

1 CAN SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK

2 C. SUGAR

1 C. BUTTER (NO MARGARINE)

1/4 tsp. SALT

1 1/2 C. WHITE CORN SYRUP

Cook and stir constantly to 238 degrees on your candy thermometer.  Remove from heat.  Stir in 1/2 tsp. anice oil and black paste (or gel) food coloring.  Pour into buttered 9" X 9" pan.  Cool.
